Brazil have conducted their business in an atypically pragmatic manner in Qatar thus far.

Two games, three goals, six points and no goals conceded. In fact, they’re yet to surrender a shot on target.

The pre-tournament World Cup favourites are living up to the hype and they’ve already booked their place in the round of 16 with a game to spare. Cameroon await on Matchday 3, with Tite set to rotate his side somewhat to prepare the Seleção for the knockout stages.

GK: Alisson – Tite could give back-up Ederson some World Cup minutes, but he’s not Roberto Mancini – who gave his entire Euro 2020 squad minutes during their successful campaign.

RB: Eder Militao – This isn’t an easy role in Brazil’s set-up. Danilo performed it superbly on Matchday 1, but Eder Militao, who boasts freakish recovery speed, didn’t half do bad against the Swiss. He’ll continue at right-back in the Juventus defender’s absence.

CB: Thiago Silva – The veteran defender could earn a rest but Tite doesn’t have too many alternative options at centre-back. With Militao covering for Danilo, only Gleison Bremer could replace the Chelsea defender in the XI.

CB: Marquinhos – His brilliance goes under the radar alongside Thiago Silva. The pair possess a telepathic relationship and will likely play all the minutes they’re available for in Qatar.

LB: Alex Telles – Finally, a bit of rotation. Alex Sandro seemingly picked up a knock in the win over Switzerland and could be replaced by Alex Telles. It’s not exactly a huge drop-off in quality.

DM: Casemiro – Fabinho is an option for the manager, but Casemiro is such an integral part of this Brazil side that it’s hard to envisage him dropping down to the bench ahead of the knockouts.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – Brazil’s midfield with two left-footers just didn’t quite work and Fred is the more likely to be replaced. Guimaraes earned his first minutes of the tournament on Matchday 2 and he could make his first World Cup start against Cameroon.

CM: Lucas Paqueta – The West Ham midfielder has enjoyed a mixed tournament thus far, but he’s a player capable of producing the creative spark that Brazil require in Neymar’s absence.

RW: Rodrygo – Rodrygo has impressed off the bench in both games so far, even performing an unfamiliar midfield function in the second half against Switzerland. Raphinha is expected to be rested on Matchday 3 which should see the Real Madrid winger earn a start over on the right.

ST: Gabriel Jesus – Richarlison is Tite’s guy for this tournament and will start throughout the knockout stages. However, with Brazil all but assured of top spot, this would be a good chance to give Jesus a run out. The Arsenal star will probably be required further down the line.

LW: Vinicius Junior – How hasn’t he grabbed his first World Cup goal yet? (offside flag aside). Much of Brazil’s good work thus far has come through the Real Madrid superstar and the electric winger will want to get his tournament underway before the knockouts.
