Villarreal vs Juventus: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction
Juventus kick off their Champions League knockout campaign with a trip to Villarreal on Tuesday night.
I Bianconeri finished above competition holders Chelsea to top Group H, winning all but one of their games in the process. Meanwhile, Villarreal finished one point below Group F victors Manchester United to book their place in the last 16.
Domestically, Juventus have been hard to beat in recent weeks but have had trouble turning draws into victories. They are currently fourth in Serie A and remain in a scrap to secure European qualification.
Over in Spain Villarreal have pieced together a decent run of form in February and are well-placed for another top six finish.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of Tuesday’s game…
When is kick off? Tuesday 22 February, 20:00 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Estadio de la Cerámica
TV channel/live stream? BT Sport (UK), fubo TV (US)
Highlights? BT Sport YouTube channel
Referee? Daniel Siebert (GER)
VAR? Bastian Dankert (GER)
As has been the case for the majority of the season, Villarreal will be without their talisman Gerard Moreno for this one as he remains injured.
The Yellow Submarine’s other key attacker, Yeremi Pino, is back after serving a suspension, as is veteran Raul Albiol. Elsewhere, Francis Coquelin and Ruben Pena are unavailable. Etienne Capoue and Giovani Lo Celso will face late fitness tests.
Max Allegri has several key absentees to deal with ahead of this one. Defence is a particular area of concern with Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Daniele Rugani all out.
Luca Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala are also likely to be sidelined too, while Federico Chiesa’s season is over too.
Villarreal are fairly new to the continental scene and as such they have never faced off against Juventus before. Anything could happen then…
Villarreal will be looking to keep things tight at the back in the hope of travelling to Turin in a few weeks and causing an upset.
The Yellow Submarine have a good defensive record under Unai Emery too, so don’t be surprised if they can eek out a clean sheet on Tuesday.
However, the signing of Dusan Vlahovic, who will be playing in his first Champions League game, has added significant firepower to the Juve attack.
In the end, a low-scoring draw seems most likely due to the visitors‘ makeshift defence.
Prediction: Villarreal 1-1 Juventus
