Juventus predicted lineup vs Villarreal – Champions League
Juventus‘ Champions League knockout campaign begins on Tuesday night when they travel to the Estadio de la Ceramica to face Villarreal.
Despite their domestic struggles this season Juve actually topped Group H, even finishing above holders Chelsea with five wins from six games.
Max Allegri has a lot of important players missing at the moment though, and there are several selection dilemmas to solve ahead of this game. Here is the starting XI he seems most likely to opt for in the end.
Wojciech Szczesny (GK) – Juventus‘ number-one stopper has had a quiet Champions League so far, being forced into just 11 saves overall.
Juan Cuadrado (RB) – One yellow card away from a suspension. Allegri will be desperate for him to stay out of the referee’s notebook with absentees stacking up.
Danilo (CB) – It’s not ideal but with so many centre-backs injured, but Danilo will have to fill in at the heart of the defence.
Matthijs de Ligt (CB) – The only natural, first-team central defender left at Allegri’s disposal. He will need to have a good game.
Alex Sandro (LB) – Played in the middle during the Turin derby but will move back to his favoured left side here.
Denis Zakaria (CM) – Has done well since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach, even scoring on his debut.
Manuel Locatelli (CM) – Zakaria’s arrival should allow him to express himself slightly higher up the pitch.
Weston McKennie (CM) – His energy will be required here, though Adrien Rabiot could be preferred.
Moise Kean (RF) – Paulo Dybala and Federico Chiesa are both out so Moise Kean should be handed a rare start.
Dusan Vlahovic (ST) – Has shown plenty of promise since arriving in Turin. Needs to prove himself on the European stage now.
Alvaro Morata (LF) – Has looked effective playing just off Vlahovic and will be desperate to prove his doubters wrong again on Tuesday.
